Documentary Filmmaking: What Makes the Story Important?

  • Common House Charlottesville 206 West Market Street Charlottesville, VA, 22902 United States (map)

Telling a non-fictional story to shine light on a topic, person, or cause isn’t quite as easy as one may assume it to be. Yes, it should be easy to tell the truth, but who cares about the story besides the filmmaker? Our interests as humans are not always the same even with likeminded individuals, so what make these stories important enough to spend your money, time, energy, and mental resources to shine a light on the topic?

We will speak with 5-Time Emmy Award Winning Documentarian, Annette Banks, to find out what makes the story important enough to create a documentary.

Free Admission - Passholders has priority seating but the panels are free for everyone.
