Women in Film: Behind the Scene

  • Common House Charlottesville 206 West Market Street Charlottesville, VA, 22902 United States (map)

Women filmmakers have been thriving in various areas of filmmaking, but still remain as an underdog in crew positions. New directors have landed television director roles while 80% of directors of photography are men. Discussions have addressed the issues of why is there a lopsided statistic in the areas of women - men holding positions behind the scenes of filmmaking and the question has arisen, are women not applying for the craft jobs or are they being shut out? Should women filmmakers celebrate the many accomplishments witnessed within the past several years of women being recognized or should then mitigate the accomplishments and keep fighting?

A conversation with award winning director, writer, actor, and producer, Healy Lange.

Free Admission - Passholders has priority seating but the panels are free for everyone.
